Coriander Honey

Coriander Honey

Coriander Honey

General characteristics

This is a new production since coriander cultivations have been introduced in our territory only recently. Its seed is normally used as a spice for cooking.

Botanical origin
Coriandrum sativum – Fam. Umbrellifere

Geographic origin
Produced only in Montefeltro.

Visual test
The crystallizing process of coriander honey is quite fast. When liquid, its colour gets to light gold. It becomes even lighter when crystallized.

Odour test
Its scent is of medium intensity and not yet characterised.

Taste test
It has a moderately sweet flavour of balsamic candy, with a spicy and pungent aftertaste.

Given its recent farming and production, this honey is still little known and studied. Some researches claim that it can be a good disinfectant for the stomach and the intestines.

Honey availability is not assured every year and/or all the year round due to the natural variability of its production. Beware of those who offer honey every year for twelve months. We are not an industry, we are farmers and we are tightly connected to Mother Nature and its seasons.
